Lonely Girl Music Video

This project is a story about feeling lonely in a vast world. It’s a commisioned music video I made for the artist Kamma.

The idea, mood and storyboard is my own, with some input from the artist herself. It is very heavily inspired by Wong Kar-Wai’s Chungking Express, both from mood, tempo as well as the very effective use of step-printing to isolate the characters in their own world. Atmosphere and mood is also heavily leaning on classic and newer science fiction like Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell.

I chose to make this in Unreal Engine as I know the tools quite well and wanted to take advantage of the new Metahumans and the free access to Megascans, without which I wouldn’t have been able to finish it in time.

The assets used are a mix of my own and some bought from Sketchfab and CGTrader as well as the Unreal Marketplace and Megascans. The main story assets are all made by me, like the busstop, the cables, the foreground buildings and the diary.
